So here I am. Again. I have to admit that I was tempted to start ANOTHER blog or, at the very least, delete the first few entries in a lame attempt to “start from scratch.” But then I realized that I might as well embrace my inconsistency, as I’m likely to put on another disappearing act at some point in the future. Hopefully, nothing as bad as an absence of almost two years.

So… a lot has happened since my last post in 2015. By a lot, I mean the conception and birth of a second child!

As of this moment, I am a momma to TWO. There’s the energetic, intelligent, talkative, and charming almost-three-year-old boy–and the beautiful, teething, drooling, crawling almost-seven-month-old baby girl.

I felt the need to revive this blog as many things are in store for our little family of four in the near future, and I really, really want to document and share them with you. Please stick around. I promise I will!

Missing in Action

I know what you’re probably thinking: Considering that I just started this blog a little over a month ago, a three-week absence from posting isn’t a good sign.

What’s my excuse?

Yaya is on vacation.

I finally found some downtime to type this post up (on my phone) because a little boy decided to nap on my belly and I’m currently stuck and am in need of distraction from the fact that I have to pee.

With yaya gone, that means I’m pretty much in charge of the little one 24/7. The exception is when the hubby arrives home from work and I all-too-eagerly hand the boy over to his daddy for a little bit while I do something important–like take a shower or lie down and play Candy Crush.

Unfortunately for me (and little M), I’ve been feeling under the weather lately and am very easily tired. This means that I’m not able to be as playful with the baby as I’d like. 😦

Thankfully, he’s been perfectly happy reading his books and “drawing” with his pens and scratch paper for the most part. When it isn’t raining outside, we’re in the garden blowing bubbles or looking for worms. We also did playtime with yogurt again, and have also had some sensorial time with water or bigas. More on that another time.

While I am enjoying the time with the little munchkin, I know I could make the experience better for both of us. I’d check Google or Pinterest, but to be honest, I’m too lazy. I have about a week and a half left and would really love some ideas on how else to keep the toddler busy at home (without resorting to plopping him in front of the TV).

Any suggestions?

The Right Pedia

Two nights ago, baby M started to get a cold. He would be asleep in our bed, then would wake up every so often wailing because he wasn’t able to breathe through his nose very well. One time, he sat up and groggily called out, “Mobby?” Let me tell you that I was a mess. I felt so sorry for the little boy with such a stuffy nose that he could not even say “Mommy” properly!

As of today, baby M is still sick with a cold, cough, and high fever. Unfortunately, a sick baby makes for a worried sick mommy and daddy. What makes mommy, daddy, and baby feel better? The right pediatrician.

Parents might have various criteria  when searching for  a pediatrician. Proximity, clinic hours, and cost of vaccinations? Yes, these are important concerns! Are they the only things to look out for? Nope.

In our case, one of the major deciding factors for going to our pedia is how easy it is to contact him (and how nice he is about it).

If you’re a worrier like me, you may benefit from finding a pediatrician you can reach during what you as a parent believe might be emergencies. Yes, I mean a doctor you can text  because your child has a very high fever, or can send a message to because your baby fell off the bed for the first time.

My husband and I have sent a LOT of messages to baby M’s pedia in the last year and a half. I shared to our pedia my frustrations and fears about breastfeeding and the baby not getting enough milk, and sent him photos when my son suddenly developed a really bad case of baby acne or allergies. The best part? He replies!

If you are anything like me, you will spend a great deal of time stressing over your sick or uncomfortable baby. While of course clinic visits are still essential in certain situations, there’s most definitely a peace of mind that comes from knowing that the doctor is just one message away.

What are your deciding factors for choosing a pedia?

Me, Me, Me

Before I formally “begin” my nth blogging journey, allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Kris, and I’m 30-something years old. My hubby and I have been married for four years (as of later this month), and we are extremely blessed to be parents to Baby M–now a darling, toddling 18-month-old boy.

I love to eat, read, and above all, spend time with my two boys. I’m blessed because my hubby allows me to stay at home–which means that I’m able to keep an eye on the little boy AND remain unshowered in my pajamas all day! Just kidding! I try to be productive, too! But more on that later.

I started Mommy Minutes (Manila) because like all mommies, I have anecdotes, learning experiences, tips, product reviews, and random musings to share. Whether you learn from them, laugh at them, or even roll your eyes and close the browser–that’s up to you.

I’m definitely no expert at motherhood, but I am enjoying every little bit of the journey. I’d really love it if you could join me.

To new beginnings.

Kris 🙂

The Birth of Yet Another Mommy Blog

They say that time flies when you’re having fun. Apparently, time flies even faster when you’re raising a baby.

I thought of creating this blog back in February 2014 with the absolute best of intentions. Baby M was only five weeks old then, and I wanted to document anything and everything related to motherhood. More than a year  later, I sit here writing my first post. How’s that for a great start? Am I wowing you with my steadfast commitment to making this blog work?

Those of you who know me personally know that this is not my first (or second or even third) blog. While all my other blogs and their passwords are long forgotten, I’ve found over the last 18 months that every day as a mommy is really a learning experience that I just had to write about.

Mommy Minutes (Manila) was created because this is one journey I really want to document–for myself, for my son, and for you. This blog will work. I know it will. I think it will. I hope it will.
